I enjoyed listening to your podcast. It was fun to hear your light hearted dialogue. It showed you really getting a chance to look at the whole experience and begin to appreciate all you have accomplished. Throughout this project I was especially enthused by your pioneering out into an unknown world of film making, budgeting, directing, producing, editing, and distribution without incorporating it under the pressures of the traditional Hollywood system. All the while you kept us informed about it all with your wonderful website. I have always been a big fan of the independents who are not afraid to take on those in the power system. It was what hooked me from the very beginning. That and of course the story and message you were presenting. To me you are bringing back what I consider is the true American spirit. Something I think we’ve lost along the way. We forget that venturing out into the unknown to create a new world, free from tyranny, is how we came to be. So I realized throughout the April Showers process you all are really practicing what you preach. You have used the heart, the head and hands philosophy to bring about positive change. That is exactly what is missing in our schools, our jobs and our life styles. Many of us are just slaves to the system and the almighty dollar which has come to make our world a less pleasurable place to be. You have shown that if you present a creative idea, share it with others, work together to make something good and do it in a honest, intelligent and kind hearted way, people will follow. Your bravery in facing fear and adversity and coming out a winner is special to me.

On a lighter note I got quite a chuckle when you were describing your Aunt Julie’s disbelief when she thought you were doing another minivan production only to find out when all the equipment trucks started rolling in that it was a somewhat larger ordeal. I could imagine her thinking, “That cocky, myself, myself Andrew has really done it this time!” I’m imagining Andrew is thinking “What did I get myself into?”

I appreciated your laughing about not getting into Sundance and thinking, what a relief! I have to admit that it did seem like a sounding board at the time. But then I also was thinking when you were upset about the MPAA’s incorrect rating that you were kind of worrying too much about the Hollywood pressure. When you were getting all the national news coverage I was thrilled and at the same time wondered if it would turn into another media circus. The media is a great thing if used properly. But like everything that is powerful it often becomes intrusive and abusive.

I liked how you decided to ditch the greedy distributers by using the elephant metaphor. Just walk around the big hulk and watch it stare dumbfounded when you fail to be intimidated by it’s size. It was really cool that you were able to create Pure+Motive out of this.

I have said all along that this has not only been an entertainment experience but an educational one as well. If you ever get some time on your hands it would be nice to have all your information compiled into a documentary , instructional tape or manuel including podcasts, stories, photos etc.

Hope to see you in Omaha for “Dancing Carl.” I read the book and the analogy of making it into a film with a snow globe like effect is intriguing . It should be a good one.

As the 24th is quickly approaching I am looking forward to seeing the movie in the 4K digital format. I have heard it makes a world of difference.

Rock on everyone, what a show it is.

    Dan
