A Letter From a Teenage Viewer

A Letter From a Teenage Viewer

The following letter was sent to us by Caroline, a teenage fan, who recently viewed April Showers with her parents. It has not been edited in any way.

I saw "April Showers" this evening with my parents and I just want to say how much of an eye-opener it was. It really hit home for me, because I am only 16 years old; a junior in high school, and although I have never experienced (and hopefully never WILL experience) a school shooting, I can only imagine how much distraught and pain is in it…

Kelly Blatz ("Sean") did a phenomenal job in the movie. I’d think it to be a very difficult role to play, especially not having the experience of what Sean had gone through, at least I hope Kelly had never experienced a school shooting… All of the actors/actresses in this movie were amazing, andI just wanted to say that it really was one of the greatest movies I’ve seen. I cried so much; thinking of how if one of those whose lives were lost were one of my friends, or was me…I bawled. I had just read "Nineteen Minutes" by Jodi Picoult, and this movie reminded me so much of that book; of how an entire community’s lives can change so drastically in just minutes because of a shooting… Also at the end, how April’s best friend was saying how April thought being afraid of pain was being afraid of life, really made me realize how lucky I am.

I’m so sorry this email is pretty long…I just wanted to say that this movie really touched me. :)

Sincerely,

Caroline
