Robert De Niro and the excellent cast around him make the film Heist a thrilling drama to remember. There is a lot that goes on in this film and the plot at times gets quite complicated, so attention to detail is required to soak up everything that this film has to offer. De Niro adds a lot of value to this film, but there is an underrated value that comes from Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s stellar performance. His charisma in the film is exciting and endless, providing a spark that is needed in a film like this one.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character asks his boss for a loan of $300,000 to pay for a lifesaving procedure that his daughter needs to have. The offer is declined by his boss and he instead has to go in a different direction to get the money. He decides to join his coworker in an inside robbery job that gets quite complicated – all to save his daughter’s life.
Of course, when something happens like this, nothing goes as planned and things take a turn for the worst. There is a police chase that happens when the plan doesn’t work because of a failed escape plan hijacking a city bus.
There is a cop that is sympathetic to them on this chase and lets them get past a roadblock by defying what they were told from higher-ups. Morgan’s character shows how he is the smart one when he does not insinuate violence as much as the robbers involved in the heist.
There are tons of twists in this film that leave you wondering what is going to happen next and what turns the film could take. There are many situations that happen with the characters where you didn’t know that these things were even in-play There are a lot of details that you need to keep track of and there are some things that are crazy to wrap your head around.
The pace of this film is excellent as it never seems to lack action or anything happening when it gets quieter. There is a plot twist at every turn which truly makes this film one that you can’t keep your eyes off of. My eyes were glued to the screen as I was really unsure of what would be happening next. The violence in the movie was well-placed and served a pivotal role in how this film flew off the screen.
The film’s action-packed nature allows for it to flow freely and give room for twists and turns when the audience would least expect it. With a stellar cast like this and crazy action-packed chases and violence, it is easy to see why stars were attracted to playing their roles in this film. There are a lot of heist-related films that have been released over the years, but the actual heist in this movie was the best part of it.
It was well thought out in terms of how it was directed when the actual heist occurs. This action-packed thriller takes you through this journey of what it was like to participate in this heist with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character. De Niro takes on a different role in this film, and it is fun to watch how he interacts with the rest of the cast as this character that he is taking on late in his career. De Niro alone makes the film worth watching as your eyes are glued to the screen as soon as his character comes up in the first scene.
The cast of this film is extremely stacked and the performances that they put on are very entertaining.
